About our written creed, statement of faith, or summary of beliefs
Eternal Enlightenment is a sect of Buddhism rooted in classical doctrines from Han translated Tantra Buddhism and Zen Buddhism. With guidance of Master Yuan Jue¡¯s and his students¡¯ interpretation, the concepts of impermanence, suffering, non-self, emptiness are re-interpreted and applied to nowadays life as basis of our religious counseling. About our form of worship
Our form of worship include regularly scheduled Buddhist services meeting at assembly place and live broadcasting at the same time (will be launched this October) The worship will be taken place every Saturday afternoon featuring Dharma talk, sutra chanting, silent praying and vegetarian food tasting.
About our formal code of doctrine and discipline
Our formal code of doctrine and discipline are consistent with Chinese Mainland Buddhism. The only difference is that we encourage non-monastic Buddhism practice (居士修行) and deliver Buddhism studies through modern ways, such as online service, Buddhist sutra digital library, and religious counseling.
About our distinct religious history
Eternal Enlightenment is a Chinese Buddhist sect dated back to Ming dynasty, Master Yuan Jue and now Ms Zhai, a pious Buddhist, now under unfulfilled wish of her deceased mentor, has carried on the mission of transmitting the sect to US.
About our literature
Our literature includes Saddharma-pundarika (Lotus Sutra, 妙法莲华经 the version translated by Master Yuan Jue), Vimalak¨©rti Nirde?a S¨±tra £¨維摩詰所說經£©£¬Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra (大般若经) and several Tantric Buddhism texts.
About our established place of worship
Our place of worship is located in the small assembly hall, 111 Fairmount Ave, Oakland, CA94611. We have conducted two services until now with each 20 people attending. As our expansion in the future, we may seek larger assembly place either by rental or purchase.
About our process by which an individual becomes a member
The process of becoming our member is simple: fill out the membership form and submit to office by mail, online submission or person drop-in. We have not open for membership registration yet. Further discussion about rights, form of participation, privilege and membership fee will be carried on in board meeting at end of this May.
