Overview

Virtual worlds represent online communities that exist entirely in a simulated environment. These can range in complexity from simple, text-based forums to complex, 3D realms. The discovery, exchange, and creation of virtual goods (non-physical objects), is often an integral part of a user's experience in a virtual world. In recent years, the exchange of these goods for real-world currency (known as real-money trading or RMT) has become a popular topic of debate among developers of virtual worlds, user, and policymakers.
