Stipulation and Order
Microsoft and the Department of Justice agree to the following conditions
of the consent decree:
-
Microsoft provides to all OEMs the option of licensing Windows 95 with
Internet Explorer removed through the Add/Remove Program function, and
also the option to licensing Windows 95 with the Internet Explorer icon
removed from the desktop, and the file entitled IEXPLORE.EXE marked as
hidden.
-
If an OEM chooses either of these options under the preliminary injunction,
the terms of their license will hold until their license expires, or 90
days after the termination of the preliminary injunction, whichever is
shorter.
-
Microsoft will make available to OEMs who choose not to install the OEM
Service Release 2.5 (OSR 2.5) the separate component upgrades which
will bring OSR 2.0 to the functional level of 2.5 except for the code running
I.E.. Microsoft states that OSR 2.0 with the additional code is functionally
equivalent to OSR 2.5 except for I.E. functionality.
-
Compliance with these terms will be considered full compliance with the
terms of the preliminary injunction.
