The Future of Education Onlineó Collaborative Textbooks |
ÝÝÝÝÝÝÝÝÝÝÝÝ Computers and the Internet can transform not merely the educational process itself, but also the work of developing the teaching materials and the curriculum. A potentially momentous development in this regard is the collaborative development of textbooks online using wiki and forum based online communities with students, faculty, and others involved with the subject matter participating. Such collaborative development would allow to capture, record, and publish insights of all of the participants, producing textbooks much more readable, clear, and user-friendly than those standard today. As a result, the effectiveness of the educational process, both in brick-and-mortar and in online institutions, will be advanced greatly.
