Conventional computing versus artificial neural networks There are fundamental differences between conventional computing and the use of neural networks. In order to best illustrate these differences one must examine two different types of learning, the top-down approach and the bottom-up approach. Then we'll look at what it means to learn and finally compare conventional computing with artificial neural networks.
