Welcome to "Ethics of Social Networks"

Social networking sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, have exploded in popularity recently, with MySpace surpassing 100 million users in late 2006. With millions of users, social networks have amassed a wealth of personal information, and several privacy concerns have been raised. We investigated the recent explosion of social networks and the related ethical issues. This website is divided into three main sections:

  1. Privacy Controls
  2. Information Gathering
  3. Mass Publicity

To navigate this site, you can go forward and backward in the box at the bottom of every page (i.e., right below this sentence), or you can use the menu on the left to jump to any desired section.
