Abstract: Only about 20% of the startups in the world are founded by women — but fewer than 3% of all VC dollars are invested in their companies. What’s so hard about starting a company, and getting funded, as a woman founder? Meet Claudia Laurie, cofounder of e-commerce enablement company Prive and Amrita Saigal, founder of ecommerce next-generation diapers company Kudos in a seminar-style event hosted by Xfund in collaboration with the Stanford Computer Forum. Learn from their founder stories: ask them about starting a company, raising money, hiring a team, and anything else you ever wanted to know about what it’s like to be a founder in today’s environment.


Claudia’sBio: Claudia is the Co-founderof Prive, an eCommerce infrastructure startup that provides intelligent toolsto the next generation of eCommerce & D2C brands. Prive is focused onenabling recurring revenue in seconds through the most configurable andintelligent subscriptions platform. Prive is backed by Xfund, Bling Capital,Halogen Ventures, and Defy Partners. 

Prior to founding Prive,Claudia was a Product Manager at Uber, leading initiatives across core orgs suchas marketplace pricing and Driver engagement. Claudia also has deep experiencein eCommerce and retail having worked at PVH, Calvin Klein, and as a founder ofher own D2C apparel brand.

Claudia graduated fromHarvard in 2018 with a degree in Architecture and Computer Science. In herspare time, she is the co-host of The Room Podcast, which highlights uniquefounder and funder stories to inspirethe next generation of entrepreneurs.

Amrita’s Bio: Amrita is a serialentrepreneur and all about creating sustainable products that truly work. Amrita’s first company out of MIT turned banana leaves into sanitary pads thathelped schoolgirls in India get ahead. Today, her dream of creating aleak-defying yet natural diaper with her company Kudos is helping parentseverywhere get ahead.  She has a degree in mechanical engineering from MITand a MBA from Harvard Business School.   Between her companiesshe spent time at P&G and GoogleX.
