For Christmas 2024, my wife and I designed a little ornament that features six angels and can be assembled by hand. If you want to make one, download this file: xmascube.jpeg, and print it on stiff paper.

Carefully cut along the red lines that surround the printed 3-by-4 rectangle. Then lay a ruler along each of the green and red internal lines (two horizontal, three vertical) and draw with the back side of your scissors to “score the paper”; and make sharp “mountain fold” creases at each of those lines. Cut six internal slits, where you see red lines, but leave the internal green lines uncut. (You'll now have twelve little squares joined together by mountain folds.) Finally shape the angel squares into a cube and tuck one gold square inside each angel square.

The assembled cube will have one edge where you can peek inside a little bit, because four red lines come together there. You might want to fasten that edge with a tiny bit of transparent tape.
