Worthington Chess Challenge 2012

Background:

Eric and Lindsey have just started playing tournement chess. In particular, since Eric is playing in the rated devisions, he is required to notate his games. I have captured those games here, in standard form, and run them through the Toga chess engine using ChessDB. In a nutshell, each move is listed in bold, in chess notation.

Following each move is an annotation placed by Toga with an evaluation of the board after that move, e.g. of the form 12: +1.3. The first number is how many moves deep the engine had analyzed. The second number is an indication of which player has an advantage, immediately prior to the selected move, i.e., if a variation is followed instead. Positive numbers mean white has an advantage, negative means black has an advantage. The larger the number, the larger the advantage.

Finally, indented under each move is a "variation". This is the sequence of moves that the engine believes is optimal, and can be helpful in understanding why the board evaluation number is what it is. By default, these variations are skipped, so clicking the right arrow on any given board shows the sequence as played. Clicking on the variation notatation will "enter in" to the variation.
