The Honors Co-op Program is a part-time Masters program for people working for Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD) member companies. Through financial commitments, companies may join the Stanford Center for Professional Development to become members and to gain access to SCPD services. This arrangement allows companies access to television network courses for the personal development, on-going training and advanced education of its employees.

With the approval of their company, employees may apply to the CS Honors Co-op Masters program. If admitted to the CS Masters program, the employee continues to work for the company but also begins working toward a Masters degree on a part-time basis. Most HCP students can only afford to take one or two classes per quarter due to time constraints and are allowed to take as little as 3 units per quarter. At this pace, it takes most HCP students approximately 5 years to complete the program of 45 units. As a full-time student, the program should take a year and a half or six quarters.

HCP applicants apply to the CS Masters program the same way as applicants applying to the full-time MS program. The same admissions criteria and requirements are used to evaluate all applicants. Please see the Supporting Documents section of the graduate admissions web page for admissions requirements.

A bachelor's degree specifically in Computer Science is not a requirement. Some fields such as Electrical Engineering overlap Computer Science. If you have practical work experience in computers, you still will be expected to have a solid background in CS. Classes taken in CS should have depth as well as breadth. If you have never taken courses in CS or if you have taken only a few courses, we highly recommend that you take NDO (Non-Degree Option) classes through SCPD or at the nearest university before applying for the Honors Co-op Program.

For more information on the Honors Co-op program or Non-Degree Option program, please visit the Stanford Center for Professional Development's web site.

For application deadlines for HCP, please see the deadlines section of this site.
